Downtown Jacksonville Before and After the Game

A rooftop chophouse, a brewery deck near the stadium, and two cocktail rooms that stay open until 2 a.m.

Downtown Jacksonville fills on a game night and a show night and goes quiet most Tuesdays, so the useful question is which rooms are worth planning around the event. These four are.

Cowford Chophouse sits in a restored early-1900s building at Bay and Ocean, and its rooftop bar is one of the few places downtown where you can actually see the city you are standing in. For something looser, Intuition Ale Works has a rooftop deck on Bay Street a short walk from the stadium.

For after, Dos Gatos has been the cocktail lounge across from the Florida Theatre since 2009, which makes it the obvious post-show room. The Volstead, a Prohibition-style whiskey lounge on Adams Street, posts hours that run to 2 a.m. every night. One honest caveat: we have seen a report that it may be closing. Its own site still lists current hours, so it stays here marked for re-checking. Call before you commit a late night to it.
